Winter Arrives With Old Memories

Winter arrives with old Memories, emotions and a soft determination to start over, to experience the same old things again and be as solitary as we are supposed to be in the end of this life. The pain mitigates effortlessly. There is no special person to talk to, again; and that’s okay. There is no willingness to meet friends and hang out with them, no matter how splendid the new hotels look and no matter how delicious the food tastes. The old memories flash before the mind’s eye like a film, a bit blurred, a bit unintelligible but beautiful nonetheless. We wish to go back to the same places that would be hell for us at some point in the past. We wish to stand there and watch people come and go, the cars rolling down the streets, the street hawkers hawking as they pass by and the trees dancing rhythmically. We are not afraid of anything—no burdens, no problems, no duties, no responsibilities. Time stops and so do we. The same old wind blows. How beautiful it is! Though Winter is cold and dry, gray and dull for some people, the memories are always a relief as they provide us warmth. Maybe that is the reason we like to hide ourselves under a blanket and read the same novels we bought 3 years ago. It makes us savor the coldness and dryness of winter. Winter is always calm, and quite emotional, too—days filled with ecstasy and nights, with nostalgia. We eagerly keep waiting for the sun, and when it comes, we are so happy that we want to share the joy with our loved ones. We wish to meet that one person we love most and spend time with them somewhere, talking about how good it feels to be here with them. We wish to tell them how we used to visit this place or that with our family and spend nice evenings, talking, eating and laughing over good old memories. We wish it happened again. 5 years from now, the present moment is going to be a good old memory for us. So, I suggest that we spend each and every moment of this season with utmost joy and make sure we draw the most out of it, so that this year’s winter becomes worth remembering and talking about even years from now, when we happen to visit the same places again.
