30 Days of Gratitude. All at Once.

I’m behind a little bit. Life sometimes gets in the way.

November 1 – What smell are you Grateful for today? Rain. Which is kind of funny, since I am NOT a rain person. But for the longest time, I couldn’t smell it. My husband could. Other people could. I could not. And then I suddenly could.

November 2 – What technology are you grateful for? My phone. I know, I know. But having the internet at my fingertips, the ability to contact anyone I need to reach within seconds, the ability to read a book or play a game. If you’ve ever known the feeling of being tied to a home phone, so you didn’t miss a phone call from someone you may not have been able to speak to for months, you’ll understand.

November 3 – What color are you grateful for? Purple. It can be bold, it can be soft, and I like the way it looks on me.

November 4 – What food are you most grateful for? Mashed potatoes and gravy. It’s my comfort food.

November 5 – What sound are you grateful for today? Laughter. There’s never enough and never too much.

November 6 – What sound in nature are you grateful for? Thunder. Another funny one, since I have been scared of storms for much of my life. I still get nervous with big storms (and hurricanes!), but I appreciate thunder.

November 7 – What memory are you grateful for? Not so much one memory, but knowing that I was a priority for my parents. They juggled schedules to make sure I could do things, and they always managed to attend special things.

November 8 – What book are you most grateful for? Oh, damn. This one’s hard. I’m going to go with Pride and Prejudice, but not for the reasons you might think. I actually hated the book, hated the characters, and it taught me that you don’t *have to love a book that everyone else loves.

November 9 – What place are you most grateful for? The beach. Any ocean beach. It’s the place that soothes my soul.

November 10 – What taste are you grateful for today? Sweet. Dear God, I love sweets.

November 11 – What holiday are you grateful for? Thanksgiving. We’ve stopped cooking a huge meal and have either eaten out or ordered a dinner for the past couple of years. Very low stress, and it turns into a day of just being, not doing.

November 12 – What texture are you grateful for? Soft, not scratchy. I’m really sensitive to scratchy fabrics, so I steer clear of wool and other things that itch.

November 13 – What abilities are you grateful for? The ability to love.

November 14 – What sight are you grateful for today? Seeing people resist.

November 15 – What season are you grateful for? Here, fall. It’s my reward after the most brutal summers.

November 16 – What about your body are you grateful for? That it hasn’t failed me. It’s still going, not without issues, but that’s better than the alternative.

November 17 – What knowledge are you grateful for? The knowledge that I can trust myself.

November 18 – What piece of art are you grateful for? Oh. Umm… I love admiring art, although I’m regrettably lacking in knowledge of it. I have some local art that I’ve collected over the years.

November 19 – What touch are you grateful for today? Hugs. I’m sometimes not a touchy-feely person, but hugs are good.

November 20 – Who in your life are you grateful for? The people who know the real me and support me.

November 21 – What song are you most grateful for? Amazing Grace. I’m not particularly religious anymore, but that song always gives me chills.

November 22 – What story are you most grateful for? The story of how far women have come, and how much farther we still have to go.

November 23 – What tradition are you grateful for? Taking vacations, even short ones, with my husband and kids. Those are some of my most treasured times.

November 24 – What challenge are you grateful for? Leaving my hometown. I’m so glad about living in the places I’ve lived, seeing the things I’ve seen, that I never would have if I had stayed in my hometown.

November 25 – What moment this week are you most grateful for? By the 25th, I’m likely to have an entirely different answer, but this week, we’ll go with not having my mouth hurt. Dental work last week.

November 26 – What form of expression are you most grateful for? Writing. It pays some of the bills, too.

November 27 – What small thing that you use daily are you grateful for? Key fobs. The battery in mine is dying (after I already traded keys with my husband after THAT one died, lol), so I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get a new one.

November 28 – What small thing that happened today are you grateful for? I had time for a nap.

November 29 – What friend/family member are you grateful for today? My husband. He’s my rock.

November 30 – What talent or skill do you have that you are grateful for? Building boxes. It helps me at work, lol.
