Gem : How to combat feelings of inadequacy and lack of confidence in yourself.

.

.

.

Make a list of 5 things that you are proud of yourself for .. (don’t worry I’ll wait)

Now say those things Aloud slowly with conviction. ( how do you feel?)

Most of us have a tendency to minimize our accomplishments and highlight our failures. This hurts our Mental and feeds into the narrative of “You are not doing enough”. When in reality you are doing better than you were yesterday, better than last week and maybe better than last year.

We also tend to forget that most of the things we currently have, at one point we were praying for it.

My therapist reminds me, to remind myself that I am doing the best that I can with the knowledge, time and mental capacity that I possess.

It’s one thing to get validation from others but sometimes what we need is that validation from OURSELVES. Instead of hearing from someone else “you are dope” for some it would be more beneficial to say aloud ” I am dope”. Hype yourself up, give yourself credit for making it through all the obstacles and clearly succeeding because you are breathing and alive right now.

If you think about it, when you are going through situations, that is the first time you are handling something of the sort. Give yourself a break. You won’t be a pro at new situations or new levels. Grow through those problems and learn from them so the next time you are tested you can finesse the situation a little better.

If you are having trouble with feeling adequate about yourself, read your list that you’ve made and feel free to update it as often as you like.

*if it’s any consolation you can be proud that you are even making an effort to better yourself and strengthen your mental health* BOOOOM !! Ya welcome lol .

You’ve been an amazing crowd. Get home safely,
