As I have put on my about page, I Love Korean Popular Music. We all know that nowadays, K-Pop is popular all over the world. The K-Pop groups active these days are not only famous in Korea but they also receive love from fans in each corner of the world.
BUT WHY DID I GET INTO K-POP? A few years ago, I was never really into k-pop. 2ne1’s Fire, Wonder Girl’s Nobody, Psy’s Gangnam Style and Gentleman, and Bigbang’s Fantastic Baby became famous in our country and was played everywhere but I never really got into Korean music.
And then, less than a year from now, Twice’s Cheer Up and Blackpink’s Boombayah and Playing With Fire got really famous in our country. Out of curiosity, I checked out their music videos. As I played other group’s music videos too until I fell in love with Gfriend’s Navillera. I immediately memorized their names and faces and their positions in the group too. I started to watch their variety and reality shows and loved them more. That is where it started.
For a month or so (I guess) I never checked out other groups. But I realized that wouldn’t it be nice to know more about the other k-pop groups? Then I checked out the other famous k-songs. Then I fell in love with Red Velvet. Also, I’ve been into KARD, EXO, Seventeen, and Dreamcatcher these days. Red Velvet became my ultimate bias group and Wendy is my bias member.
So… WHY DID I LOVE K-POP? For me, I loved it because of the variety of music it offers to you. Each group has a different style, vibe, and aura and you can choose which group’s music suits your taste.
Another thing is their talent and hard-work. K-pop artists have lots of talents. It can be singing, dancing or rapping. They also work hard before debut and that makes me appreciate them more. Also, K-pop has a different style than western pop. If in the west, pop artists just sing their music when they perform, k-pop artist performs their songs WHILE DANCING. This is why fans adore them A LOT. Also, the dorkiness of k-pop idols just makes me love them more.
