I get asked this question a lot, and I always pause for five seconds.. sometimes for more because I simply don’t know what the right answer should be. Long story short, I was born in Algeria to Algerian parents with Turkish roots. We moved to Qatar when I was five years old where I went to school, completed my bachelors degree in Finance and Marketing, started up my career by working for one of the biggest national projects in the Country “Qatar Rail” which is one of Qatar’s main preparations for hosting the World  Cup 2022. I also got married in Qatar to a great Palestinian/Canadian husband and finally I gave birth to my son in Toronto, Canada where we live now.

Therefore, when I get asked this question, I can’t decide where I belong or which country I call home. I wish I could choose one but every country has a special place in my Heart. It’s a privilege and a curse at the same time. You get to live the beauty of each one of them but you leave a piece of your heart behind in the other beautiful countries.

Now, I have decided that the next time they ask me where I am from, my answer will be “everywhere”.
