Will I ever like it?

Residentials:  Entry 2
The next few days did not seem to have made any difference to my perspective towards the Subject. It was only interesting how I got very less time to read about what I was witnessing every day.

I hence had to base a lot of my judgement on my own opinions. For an interested soul the place was an amazing arena for learning. One of my friends had developed such liking for the subject that she spent a lot of time monitoring patients and understanding how the process of labor worked.

I told myself that there is still some hope left that might somehow enable me to enjoy it.

I had always liked talking to patients and that seemed nice. It was a good thing listening to what they felt and to them a great thing because in the middle of so much activity and rush someone was trying to listen to them. It Helped me get through the hours of waiting for someone to deliver.

The first caesarean section I was scrubbed in for gave me a different insight into the whole process. It involved much less pain for the woman and also took much less time. Indeed the level of expertise involved was the challenge and I still wasn't sure about how I would learn to conduct a normal delivery.

By the time I had reached about 5 deliveries I was exhausted. I tried as much as possible to get a hold of the concepts, but failed. It was all going in a monotone. Long nights, skipped breakfasts, long naps which lasted till noon only to be compounded by post postprandial drowsiness after lunch which ended when the day shift batch of students went back, handing over the baton to us. The only good thing was that I had a really good bunch of people with me. We knew that we were becoming better friends over time and that helped me a lot. A group dinner was definitely soon to happen.
