Time for another installment in my bright red Hair stories. This time we are checking out the Syoss Permanent Coloration hair dye from their Long Lasting Reds line.

I picked up shade 5-23 Ruby Red which is an intense but darker almost like burgundy red. This hair dye product usually retails around $7-8 USD/euro. I am not sure if they sell it in the US but you can get it almost everywhere in drugstores across Europe for sure.

Now important to know, this product does contain ammonia so if you are looking for a home hair dye without it – this won’t be it. However, since it does contain ammonia, it means that it will last you much longer and color grey hairs if you have those as well.

If you have thick or long hair, you probably will need two bottles of it since it does not have a large quantity of the product. I have thick below shoulder length hair so one bottle was just barely enough.

Things I liked:

Affordable price
No strong smell
Lasted about 4-5 weeks and then the roots started to fade
Applies easily and does not itch or cause any skin problems

Things I didn’t like:

By the end of the 3rd week It started to look patchy and the roots became really dry, hair got oilier than usual which is something I rarely get with hair dye
The formula was a little on the dry side
Not a lot of product so if you have longer/thicker hair It will be an issue

Overall, I do think this product is good but not worth buying again. It does dry out your roots more than others, maybe it has to do something with the formula.

This was my last red bright hair journey attempt, gotta get back that natural ginger hair but it’s going to be a quest. Will see how it goes once again!
