SKINCARE VOYAGE:BAD DYI

Tags: skin mask

I never had the best Skin. Always had acne, breakouts, dry patches or something to keep me unhappy about it. One of the best skin care options are masks, treatments and so on. However, that might get really pricey. So I tend to look for any options that would help me to clear up my skin.

This time I wanted to try what any thrifty girl would – DYI. The world of DYI is so fascinating and overwhelming at the same time. But there’s a golden rule – NOT EVERYTHING WILL WORK FOR YOU. Not every treatment will suit your skin type. Some treatments are extenuate dry patches, acne or even cause it. Then there’s some which can make your skin look as fabulous as Sofia Carson.

I decided to go on a skin care journey and to try to revive my poor skin struggling to look it’s best. A little of backstory – couple weeks ago I swapped my usual skin care products for better ones and changed up my routine. I usually would use Micellar water, face wash, creams and all that jazz but now my routine is a little bit switched. My skin is much clearer and healthier thanks to a magical cleanser which I will post about as well. But since I do have combination skin and get a lot of oils on my face thus It is not easy to control all those nasty breakouts. So let’s go on a little budget friendly skin care adventure.

So will try do a test-run for all of you out there wanting to try different kinds of skin care craziness but not knowing whether a product or treatment is good enought. Here I go!

The very first one I was so eager to try was this DYI face mask for a clean complexion and brightened skin. I found the recipe on www.remediesforme.com

All you need for this mask are 3 ingredients. Just mix them together and apply on your clean skin.
1 teaspoon of tumeric
1 teaspoon of raw honey
3 teaspoons of Greek yogurt or raw milk (not skimmed, full fat)

Keep it on for 10-15 minutes. Wipe off with cloth or cotton ball.

I did all the instructions and the outcome was… HORRIBLE. The first real DYI beauty mask I did literally burned my skin. You see girls on Inatgram putting tumeric on their skin and it clears up in a blink of an eye. Girls, that’s not true. At least not to me.

Again, this is what happened to my skin, therefore it might be different for someone else.

The positives: I did like the consistency of the mask. The Greek yogurt made is really smooth and soft. For application I used an angled kabuki brush but not a fluffy one which made the application itself really nice. Furthermore, the smell was nice too. But you probably won’t like it if you cannot stand tumeric because it has a very specific smell but I do find it pleasing.
The negatives: It was pretty sticky once it was on my skin. The removal was really unpleassant because of the honey in the mask it got sticky, almost sugary so removing with dry cloth or coton pad won’t work. It helps to wet the cotton but still removing isn’t the easiest. Once I removed the mask my skin was itchy. Then I noticed the horror of this mask which was rashes all over my cheeks and the skin was burning.  As you can see in the picture my skin is all red and that does not occur naturally.

In conclusion, there are great DYI face masks or other treatments for you to try but this once is not it. My advise to you is – DO NOT TRY IT!

That’s all for now.
