MY FIRST DRUGSTORE HAUL + REVIEWS

I LOVE WRITING ABOUT BEAUTY AND MAKEUP as much as I love writing about more serious topic. Bu this post will be exactly about the first one.

Couple days ago I had a chance to do my very first DRUGSTORE HAUL! It was very exciting. I never was the kinda girl who can just go to a store and pick up whatever I want. My family never had that kind of money. So every time my friends would just do that It really sucked. Wasn’t the worst thing in the world, but to me it didn’t feel good. I am a girl and I really wanted or needed some things but I just never had the option or opportunity to do that.

But that was different this time because I finally got my first grown up’s job and could spend more than 10 bucks in a shop for makeup all at once. There were so called Glamour days in Hungary for the past 4 days. If you had special limited edition coupons you could go into any shop and get huge discounts. It was crazy. People were obsessed with every item they could find. I found this opportunity to get all I want from the drugstore.  So here is my little haul and my thoughts on the products.

First, let’s go with some health and various products. So I got some Vitamin  C and tooth paste. Nothing much to say about those except that the toothpaste feels really fresh and would definitely recommend it.

Also, I got some Micellar water from Nivea and gotta say that, since I was a fan of the Micellar water from Maybelline (Pink one), I expected this to perform similar on my skin but I actually prefer the Nivea One. The Nivea 3 in 1 Micellar Water is less oily than the Maybelline one and makes my skin feel so much softer and fresh. RECOMMEND!

The one item that I was incredibly excited about is the Batiste dry shampoo that has taken UK’s beauty market by storm. I have dry long thick hair so any dry shampoo doesn’t really get the job done but now I tried this one and I LOVE IT! Just couple sprays and your hair is looking great. I will repurchase this a 100%!

I got the Essence cosmetics ‘The Gel nail polish base coat’ from their new line. This base coat is great. I’m not usually the nail polish kind of girl because I often struggle with application if the nail polish is not so great in quality but this base makes the application so much smoother and easier. The Essence Gel nail polish line in general is amazing. I got the color 40 Play with my mint. I had the nail polish for 4 days and have not seen any chipping so far. Both are great and would RECOMMEND!

The Catrice multibrush. This brush is a new addition to their products. I have been looking for a affordable thick foundation brush like that. Usually I apply foundation with a flat foundation brush but I find it that the application is not the best. Now it says that this brush is versatile and you can apply blush, bronzer, foundation and highlight with it. In theory it would work for the later ones since the brush is a little angled. I have been using it for foundation for the last couple days and I REALLY LIKE IT! Of course, the brush doesn’t feel as smooth as the Real techniques brushes but it does apply well and you can work with it very easily. The only con perhaps is that it is very small and hard to hold.

So here I have couple more products. Let’s start with the Rimmel London Stay Matte pressed powder. It is probably the best pressed powder I have tried. Creamy, easy to apply, minimal fallout, color matches the skin perfectly, smells good. They have variety of colors and it is really affordable since it retails around 4-5 euros in Europe. Don’t really have anything negative to say about it. 100% would recommend!

Catrice 24h Made To Stay Makeup Foundation. I have been on a hunt for a new perfect foundation. So far I have tried so many of them but always got disappointed. So tried this foundation and I am very happy so far. Will use this for some more time and going to get you a review on this since it is a new product on the market.

Also, Essence came out with Make Me Matt Top Lip Coat which retails around 2 euro. Very affordable. I tried it out with Catrice long lasting nude lipstick and I gotta say it does work. However, If your lipstick is not only glossy but very creamy, it will be incredibly hard to dry it out since the product is really wet. Probably would work better if you apply it with a brush. Not sure yet if I would recommend it but it is worth it to check it out.

I also picked up the new Essence Cushion gel eye liner. It retails around 2 euros. It is pigmented and buildable. However, you have to be quick with the application since it dries really fast and to add on some product might get difficult. Also, it is not easy to remove from your eye lids, so you should get some strong eye makeup remover. The formula is good so it lasts for about 7-8 hours or more depending on the weather. The con is that at the end of the day it might start cracking on the sides. But overall it is a good liner and would recommend it!

Here is a light swipe of the Essence Cushion Gel Eyeliner with an angled brush.

Essence also released their Extreme Lasting Gel Eye Pencil which is waterproof. I got the color black. This pencil is really pigmented, creamy and lasts quite a long time. After you let it dry for couple seconds it doesn’t smudge. I applied it on my water line and it lasted for about 7-8 hours. Of course it faded a little bit so you can easily re-apply. It is very easy to use. They only have the classical shades like black, brown, white. Compared to their Longlasting eye line pencils which are not pigmented and much less long lasting – these are a treasure to be kept!

Essence Extreme Lasting eye pencil – just one swipe! Look at that pigment!

Over, I’d like to say that most of these products are definitely worth checking out. All of them are really affordable and can help you to create your favorite makeup looks! My favorites so far would be the ‘Batiste‘ dry shampoo, Rimmel London Stay Matte pressed powder and the Essence nail polishes.

That’s all for now,

xoxo, Aurelija.
