Jay Z Teases Surprise ‘4:44’ Album Release: Watch

Jay Z is gearing up to release his first Album since 2012’s Magna Carta Holy Grail.

4:44 is part of Tidal’s recent, mysterious ad campaign for a project by the same name, which was previously announced as a film starring Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danny Glover.

The album will drop June 30 for subscribers of Sprint or Jay Z’s Tidal platform through what’s pitched as a first-of-its-kind partnership between both companies. While 4:44 will premiere on Tidal, it’s unclear how long the album will remain exclusive to the streaming service, or if a physical release is planned.

There’s also a trailer for the new album, which teases a song called “Adnis” and features footage of the Ali/Nyong’o/Glover movie.

As part of the U.S. campaign for this album, Tidal and Sprint have pledged support to the 1Million Project, an educational initiative from Sprint and the Sprint Foundation that will assist 1 million low-income U.S. high school students who aren’t connected to the Web at home.
