How to Export and Consolidate Tracks from Reaper, Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton ,or Garageband for use in the Recording Studio

Export / Consolidate Tracks from Pro Tools

Highlight all the regions or use CTRL A to select all regions along with any space left at the beginning of the tracks. You should have every region selected from the session start to the end. Choose consolidate regions from the edit menu and Pro Tools will merge all your existing pieces into a new single audio file for each track. Go into the audio files folder and find all the tracks you just consolidated. Copy those to a new folder and make a zip file with all the tracks after testing that all the elements are there. Its ok to use a little effects or sauce to make it right, but too heavy sauce will make a sloppy mix.

Export / Consolidate Tracks from Logic

in LOgic X go to File Project management, consolidate. then click ok or go to file export tracks. Please test out all tracks before sending. Drag them into an empty session and make sure everything is there and everything is as it should be. You can zip compress the tracks folder for the studio engineer.

Export / Consolidate Tracks from Reaper

Usually export in mono for reaper with one track for each input. However if you have recorded stereo tracks, or used important stereo effects that you have applied to tracks, you may want to try stereo. 24 bit is preferred.

Select all the tracks including in mix bus or effects tracks you wish to export by using command click or CTRL click on a PC. Se the locatetrs to the entire song length,

File Render

on the render field  select “Stems” and set the Output directory to somewhere where you can find them easily like desktop/song_tracks/ or something like that. You can leave the NAME field blacnl. under options select 23 bit 44.1k or whatever sample rate you used for recording.  Send a zip file like Songname_Tracks.zip or similar with all the audio files in it that you have verified in an empty session to ensure nothing has been forgotten.

Export / Consolidate Tracks from Ableton Live

Select the entire arrangement and open the Export Audio/Video screen: CMD + Shift + R (Mac)/ CTRL + Shift + R (Windows).
Set Rendered Tracks to “All Individual Tracks”
Make sure that Render Start and Render Length covers the entire song from start to finish.
Set to WAV 24 bit and use whatever sample rate you recorded at. for example 44.1k
Make sure to turn OFF Render as Loop, Convert to Mono and Normalize and hit Export.

Put all the new files in a new session

Open Preferences to the Record Warp Launch section and Turn off Auto-Warp Long Samples.

Drag all the new track files into the session and check that nothing is amiss.

Send all the wav file tracks to a folder and make a zip file for the tracks_like_this.zip

Transfer the Tracks to the Recording Studio Engineer

Use something like wetransfer.com to send the tracks
