Beyonce Call to Action: “Stop Killing Us”

Over the past two days, two black men have been shot and Killed by Police Officers. On Tuesday, 37-year-old Alton Sterling was killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Wednesday, 32-year-old Philando Castile was shot as he reached for his wallet during a traffic stop in Minnesota. Beyoncé has responded to the tragedies in a post on her website today under the title "Freedom" (named after the song with Kendrick Lamar on her album Lemonade), where she urges readers to enact change and take action against the tragic shootings.
"We are sick and tired of the killings of young men and women in our communities. It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they 'stop Killing us,'" the post begins. "This is not a plea to all Police officers but toward any human being who fails to value life," Beyoncé adds, and asking her readers to vie for "social and judicial changes."
"We all have the power to channel our anger and frustration into action. We must use our voices to contact the politicians and legislators in our districts and demand social and judicial changes," she wrote, encouraging people to contact their local Congressman or woman and to voice protest for Anton Sterling and Philando Castile.
