“Don’t Even Move’ is a Melodic, shining rocker from Moon Under Water, the project of Berlin-based British solo artist Michael Bloss, who previously recorded under the alias Grado (featured in 2016). The track comes via the album Between Emergencies, which comprises songs Bloss has written over the past two years. “If Grado was a reflection on trying to understand your place in the wider world, Between Emergencies finds alienation and unfamiliarity in a world you thought you knew,” he writes of the new album.

Aesthetically, “Don’t Even Move” reminds fondly of the indie-rock put out by The New Pornographers; it touts highly melodic, soaring sounds with enthusiastic vocal layers and spot-on instrumentation. The intro conveys a lusher perspective, though by the one-minute mark there’s ample rhythmic expansion and vocal ascension that perks things up quickly. From there on, “Don’t Even Move” is a joyously melodic gem, off a very enjoyable album, streaming on Spotify here.
