July Top 5 Social Roundup

July = full-fledged summer mode and it is our duty to bring to you one hell of a Social Roundup to go with it. This month, we’ve compiled a diverse list of songs that take you from the backcountry on a camping trip to a sunset walk with your Love and everywhere in between. Ready to soak up the sun with some of the best tunes we’ve discovered on social? Let’s go!

Matt Farris (@mattfarrisCNTRY)
Location: Nashville, TN

Despite the open-ended and slightly deceptive title, “She’s Done” isn’t another redneck song describing love woes (we’ll leave those gory details up to Rob Kardashian). Matt Farris has way more depth than that and his latest single is a testament to it. As he details a saga between lovers, he narrates that “she’s done her fair share of crying her tears have fallen away…..she’s done.” We love how Farris is clearly rooted in Country Music, but has made the style its own infusing heavy-hitting guitars and catchy choruses in what has become a breakout single. Know anyone going through a rough patch or who needs an extra boost of empowerment? Send ‘em this song.

Birds of a Feather (@boaffly)
Location: Ireland

We’d love to see “Light Up” become a song of the summer. This duo certainly lights up our hearts from the second we read their bio and learn that they are “Two kindred souls who find peace in each other’s presence when everything around them is in turmoil.” While not traditional country music per se, we love the mellow folksy nature of this group and how well their vocals and instruments perfectly accompany one another. We’re crossing our fingers that they tour the states soon. In the meantime, you can please your ears with their their YouTube channel chock full of both originals and covers ranging from Zac Brown Band, Kings of Leon, and beyond.

Jacob Bryant (@jacobbryant1)
Location: Nashville, TN

The opening guitar line in “A Woman’s Touch” draws you in with its bluesy, melodic nature that says so much without absent minded noodling (as we see in so many guitar players). The video reels you in as well with two lovers making off with a stack of dough who are quick to be on the run from the police. They make off unscathed and quickly return to celebratory mode throwing money around haphazardly without a care in the world. Bryant does an incredible job both lyrically and visually to “know what it feels to live and breathe the fire and rush” of love to the point of dismissing your better judgement and any type of consequence that comes with the thrill.

Temecula Road (@temucularoad)
Location: Temecula, CA

This young group has been popping up all over our feed for the past few months and we finally got a chance to sit down and check out their music. Comprised of three teenagers, Maddie, Dawson, and Emma, they have already paved a bright path ahead to become the next big breakout stars. “What if I Kissed You” is poppy and upbeat and even though their individual voices all shine, their 3-part harmonies are the most impressive. In their young career, they have already supported the likes of Martina McBride, Josh Turner, Joe Nichols, Sara Evans, Eli Young Band and Love And Theft. We’d suggest hopping on these guys before they’re selling out stadiums.

Angels with Dirty Faces (@AWDFmusic)
Location: United Kingdom

If there’s one thing these social roundups have taught us, it’s that there is no shortage of emerging country artists in the UK. Angels with Dirty Faces is our latest killer find from across the pond. We like these guys because they’re not your run-of-the-mill modern bro country band everyone seems to love or hate. From the second you hear the organ tones of the keyboard come in, you think this is equal parts The Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd as it is country music. However, instead of gruff vocals, you have the smooth, yet hearty tone of Kalli Ashton and Amanda David’s voices. We will certainly keep our eyes peeled on their “Angels Sessions” on YouTube and can’t wait to hear more releases from these guys and gals.
