Song of the Day: “Cut It Off” by PussyVision

Today’s Song is “Cut It Off” by Pussyvision. This genderqueer witch house producer, performance artist, and noise musician hails from Western Massachusetts.

Her style combines harsh electronics, heavy beats, and haunting vocals to evoke brutal images of trauma and recovery. PussyVision builds dynamic tracks live on stage using analog synths, a MPC 1000, and loop pedals. Her vocals erratically oscillate between ethereal singing, blood-curdling screams, childlike chanting, and guttural howls with lyrics that speak intimately to anxiety, dissociation, violent fantasies, and regaining power post-trauma.

PussyVision’s live performances, (complete with homemade masks and costumes that often pair glitter with fur), have been described as “experiencing industrial hell” and “witnessing a delusional cyberwitch.”

In 2017, Pussy toured queer and experimental underground scenes from New York to Tijuana to Montreal, while on her NaNa PussyTour. This summer, she plans to focus on recording her second album, HAZARDVILLE, and will be playing at StrangeWaves Fest in Paris, Ontario. She is also planning a tour in Europe this coming year surrounding a performance at the qujOchÖ Collective in Linz, Austria.
