NEN PLAYLIST | New Music Monthly | September Round Up

We’ve rounded up the best new music released this month!

From pop to rock to indie, here at NEN we’ve rounded up the best new music we can’t stop listening to and compiled into a playlist for your listening pleasure. Featuring FLING, All Them Witches, Henry Jamison, Joyce Manor and more; here’s our top tracks from the first half of 2018. Enjoy!

FLING – ‘Je T’aime’

After the release of their EP ‘Banjo Billy’, FLING have successfully done it again with their latest track ‘Je T’aime’. Bringing soft Vocals in both English and French mixing with their classic ‘wonky pop’ sound, you’re in for a right treat.

Henry Jamison – ‘Gloria’

This snippet of Henry Jamison’s gorgeously gentle folk is the opening track to his upcoming album, ‘Gloria Duplex’, out early next year. Evoking artists such as Sufjan Stevens in the most poetic of ways. Listening to observational, pensive Jamison is cheaper than therapy.

Lauren Aquilina – ‘Psycho’

After taking two years of retirement from the Music industry, Lauren Aquilina is back and better than ever, with a song about her rocking up outside her ex-boyfriends house after a break-up. The production, vocals, and story behind her new single are all incredible, and after two years without new music, it is very much worth the wait.

Joyce Manor – ‘Think I’m Still in Love with You’

A tried and tested emo indie-rock track, ‘Think I’m Still in Love with You’ is the latest bop from the five-piece’ latest Record ‘Millions Dollars to Kill Me’. Expect sugar-sweet choruses, driving fuzzy guitars and an earworm for days.

Check out our September 2018 playlist below:

Nina Nesbitt – ‘Loyal To Me’

A classic Nina Nesbitt pop banger, but this time about boys messing with you during a relationship, things everyone can relate to. Nina’s sassy lyrics and exquisite vocals add an extra edge to the track and make the chorus stick in your head for days.

Methyl Ethel – ‘Scream Whole’

It’s their first new music in over a year, following last album ‘Everything Is Forgotten’. This new taste is more souped-up than previous hazy art-rock, but those clean-cut grooves and transparent production still underpin this new direction. We’re pumped to see what Jake Webb and co. might reveal before the year is out.

Harry Strange – ‘Signs’

Harry Strange has a track record for cleverly written tracks, with a dark undertone you can kind of get lost in.  Needless to say ‘Signs’ is another great piece.

Dodie ft. Tom Walker – ‘Human’

Opening with an intricately soft guitar melody, Dodie‘s ‘Human’ ties together her soothing vocals, delicate piano patterns and heart warming lyrics to create a fantastic track.

The Wldlfe – ‘Towel’

One of the most addictive songs from the last few months.  There’s a nostalgic pop touch to ’Towel’ that also brings a fresh sound that you can’t help but love. Off of The Wldlfe’s new album, ‘I’m Not Worried Anymore’ (which is also a banger).

Lala Lala – ‘Dove’

The third single from the upcoming record of Chicago artist Lala Lala, ‘Dove’ is a beautiful dreamy synth jam. With melancholy vocals and driving drums, the track is a tender exploration of relationships and self-love. With the full record ‘The Lamb’ out on HardlyArt at the end of the month, this track positions the album to be a special record.

All Them Witches – ‘Workhorse’

Taken from All Them Witches’ fifth album ATW, Workhorse is an introduction to the Nashville psych-rocks new sound. Steeped in twanging guitars and skittish drums that race alongside otherworldly vocals from Charles Michael Parks JR, ‘Workhorse’ is a glorious addition to the bands heady body of work.
