GET THE Pau Ferro HERE

When it comes to Fender Guitars, it can often be incredibly easy to overthink your next moves. What with the Stratocasters, the Jazzmaster, and not to mention their legendary acoustic range, your information can often be muddled and blurred. Too many chef’s? Or too many reviews…

Either way, our latest series of reviews aim to to deliver you with the exact information you’re looking for, publishing only the Telecaster information you need to make an informed choice.

First in our series is the absolutely stunning Deluxe Thinline Telecaster, specifically the Pau Ferro 3-Tone Sunburst. Pau Ferro refers to the material of the fingerboard, a super durable, clean and fresh wood which delivers the classic fender tone, with a warm modern twist. The Pau Ferro touch is actually blended with the classic maple wood used on all of Fender’s premium ranges, so you if you’ve got a Telecaster already then you know what to expect. Let’s pick apart the guitar and summarise what exactly what you’ll get from this guitar, the tone you can expect, and how it really is a masterpiece from Fender.

Fender Telecaster Thinline – Why choose this range, and what’s different?

The real difference is exactly what it say on the tin! The Thinline range has, you guessed it, less weight and a much more modern, sleeker body than the standard Tele’s. Designed with modern shredders, gigging guitarists after lightweight guitars and generally the shift in the guitarist zeitgeist toward a demand for thinner necks, the Telecaster Thinline range really is the ultimate fender guitar, for modern guitarists. This is also the Fender range with the iconic, legendary ‘f-hole’s’, so if you’ve been looking for that specific range of guitars then you’ve found it in the thinline.

Fender Thinline Review – What is the Pau Ferro made of, and what does it sound like?

The Thinline guitar consists of:

  • Semi-Hollow alder body
  • Maple/Pau Ferro blend fingerboard
  • String Thru Build
  • 6 saddle bridge
  • Maple neck
  • 22 frets
  • Vintage Singecoil bridge & neck pickups
  • 4-way volume selectors

Let’s start with the alder body. A classic in the world of Fender, the alder semi-holow is an all-round lightweight frame, with a thickness that means the f-hole doesn’t compromise the overall tone of the guitar. Sustain and tonal depth is also assured, due to the sheer thickness of the body and the way it has been expertly married to the blended woods of the neck.

Speaking of the neck, and the primary driver of the guitars namesake, the maple/pau ferro blend adds to a truly unique tone and feel. The twang and high-ends of the tele remains, with an almost sustained ring to the low-end open chords when switched to the back pickup, making this easily one of the best Telecaster for a lead/rhythm switch style of playing.

The 4 position pickups are what ties this unique build together, relying on the standard tele pickups which create the sound we’ve all come to know and love.

Needless to say, the Pau Ferro sounds exactly how you think a modern tele would sound; a crisp, modern tone with the classic twang of a tele.
