“The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog (LP)” was released by “Umlaut Records” on 2018. Album was recorded by “Die Hochstapler”. The ensemble consists of great jazz masters – it’s Pierre Borel (saxophone), Louis Laurain (trumpet), Antonio Borghini (double bass) and Hannes Lingens (drums). The music of “Die Hochstapler” is vivid, dynamic and filled with innovative ideas of avant-garde jazz. All compositions are based on collective improvisations, basics of avant-garde and experimental jazz and experimental music. This synthesis mixes up with driving playing manner, expressive sstyle and unique sound by each improviser. All four musicians are inventive andcreative jazz masters. They have a mavrelous abilities of playing – talent, creativity, ambitions and inventive ideas are mixed all together. Fresh ideas, evocative decisions, shocking experiments, sudden turns, contrasting compounds, spontaneous improvisations and driving mood – all these elements contain the main base of compositions. Musicians of quartet are very sensible to each other’s playing – individual and contrasting melodies, expressions and colors gently go together in one musical pattern. That makes energetic, hot, bright and moving sound.

All kinds of playing styles, manners and moody jumps to another characters are collected together in “The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog (LP)”. The music is bright, energetic and adventurous. Musicians manage to mix together free and spontaneous solos, collective improvisation and the basics of avant-garde jazz. Roots of 1960’s and 1970’s experimental jazz are got together with the latest innovations and experiments of nowadays avant-garde jazz. The traditions of European and American avant-garde jazz are mixed together – it makes a pleasant synthesis between these two individual and genuine jazz styles. Music becomes sparkling, bright, luminous and passionate. Drive, imagination, fascinating experiments, creativity and liberty to improvise individually makes an effort to interesting and rich musical pattern. The structure of compositions is difficult and constructed from many compounds. The contrasts of moods, motions, characters, factures, expressions and timbres are all brought together in one place. Musical pattern sparkles with dozens of colors and emotions – it’s very sensible, emotional, stormy and bright. Saxophone melodies by Pierre Borel are moving and dynamic. Improviser has dozens of different manners and expressive playing style. Hot and aggressive tunes suddenly go straightly to subtle, meditative, relaxing or dreamy. Sudden contrasts and changes is the key of his style. Harsh solos, shrieky tunes, drmatic and turbulent culminations, terrific and blowing riffs, roaring blow outs gently go with splendid passages, fantastic jumps through all the registres, fascinating musical experiments and calm, sleepy, slow and stable places. Saxophone makes an effort to whole melodic pattern – it gives main tune to melody and dictates the active and energetic mood. Trumpet by Louis Laurain is a rela burst of energy and drive. Trumpeter is improvising with passion and expression. Energetic, loud and ambitious solos are filled with radical decisions, fascinating experiments, weird timbres, growling, buzzing or trembling solos. Very moody, terrific and roaring blow outs gently fit with expressive, dizzy and passionate solos and passages. Remarkable melodies suddenly are changed by slow, monotonic and stable excerpts. Trumpet and saxohone make an effective duo – their flowing melodies, hot spills, bursts of energy and light, speedy and playful solos are marvelously joined together. Antonio Borghini’s bass melodies are vivacious and bright. It’s contrasting with deep and solemn tunes. Repetitive chords sessions, monotonic tunes, who are based on calm, soft and deep timbres, make a strong bass line. Strange timbres, weird and crazy ideas, fantastic instrumentation, special effects and ambitious decisions – all these elements also make the bass improvisations effective and bright. Hannes Lingens is the leader of drums section. It’s driving, breaking and furious, or sometimes – meditative, relaxing, ambient and depressive. Drummer shows all his abilities of improvising – he manages to switch between absolutely different playing techniques, mood and characters with no effort or force. Splendid passages, trembling arpeggio, roaring drum rolls, tremendous and turbulent free improvisations, breaking, aggressive and frantic sessions, repetitive rhythms sequences or meditative and monotonic episodes, slow and separate beats or stormy tremolo – it seems that drummer is diving through all these pieces with pleasure, fantasy and drive. The music of this album is dynamic and bright – it has lumious and innovative sound.
