Before we move on the regular silliness I had to share the best spam post the blog has seen in a loooong time…somebody actually registered on the site so send me this:

And it had a link to a web site that was no longer working. Classic stuff, that.

So the blog isn’t usually a gush-with-praise space but there’s a first time for everything. Ya’ see, that African American History Month show went to a place that’s worth mentioning. Yeah, we knocked it all out in three weeks and yeah it was EPIC but this particular Concert had a little more of something we’ve always got…

Susie.

Stop blushing and just deal with it, boss.

A friend who was at the concert made a point of telling me how hard she worked and I have to agree. More so than any WCS concert I can remember, she dragged us where she needed us to go. Because we were still a little shaky on some things she had to conduct her okole off to take us there and it worked.

Extra credit to the gang for paying attention, by the way. She could be Snowboarding up there and it wouldn’t matter if nobody was a-lookin’.

When the dust cleared I think everybody was a little more exhausted than usual; the singers because they had to focus so much more on the things they didn’t think they knew very well (but they really did) and Susie because she had to support us at such a level of effort. The result was truly exceptional and has a lesson in it.

Howsabout we try to sing like that every time? We know Susie will be doing her thing so we need to do ours at the highest level of focus and concentration (but don’t forget to smile…your audience likes it and you sound better). I can guarantee you that it will elevate a great concert to another height (it will also get us through the “Requiem” in one piece…).

Another quick note, this from Mrs. Blogmeister. She’s also not a gush-with-underserved-praise person and has attended every one of her concerts. After this one she made a point of telling me how wonderful it was to be able to understand every word we sang.
