Although there was a dusting of snow in some areas of the UK, we are in Spring. So, now would be an ideal time to give your car a Spring clean and ensure that everything is as it should be after winter.

1. Spring clean

The winter weather can be cruel. Especially when it comes to the amount of dirt your car is subjected to. All of which can cause some nasty corrosion.

A good old fashioned clean of your car – both in and out – will help to make it look at its best, whilst also removing any rust invoking muck.

2. Top up liquids

At the end of winter, make sure to give your levels a check – oil, screen wash and brake fluid.

These key components tend to deplete quicker during the colder months as your car copes with the poor conditions. Consult your handbook for help if you are not sure where these are on your vehicle.

3. Windscreen Wipers

Windscreen wipers help keep your view clear and so are important to your safety.

The average windscreen wiper required replacement after 6-12 months. Again, due to the poor winter weather, they could wear out quicker. Give them a quick look over and replace if damaged.

4. Tyre Checks

Tyres are one of the most important parts of the car. As such, make sure that you check your pressures regularly. A car tyre will lose around two pounds of air every month.

If your tyres do not have the correct air pressure, your car’s performance can be affected – i.e. longer braking and unstable handling.

Each vehicle model requires its own specific tyre pressure. To find out what your car requires, check the manufacturers’ manual.
