A Man’s Guide To Natural Hair Growth

Tags: hair

Men care about their Hair just as much as women care about theirs. It’s just not very obvious because men hide it better than women. There are also different hairstyles that they can do for their hair. For those, you have to grow out your hair a little bit so you can achieve the look.

Here’s a guide for men to have natural hair growth so you can finally cop that style you’ve always wanted.

Eat Foods that Are Beneficial for Your Hair

Good overall health is vital to keep your hair healthy and strong as you grow them out. It means that you won’t have to cut it too soon because of dryness and brittleness. Cutting your hair often won’t let you have the hairstyle you want to try.

Foods rich in protein, vitamin C, and biotin are good for your hair. The food sources you can get those nutrients from include:

  • Meat
  • Nuts
  • Beans
  • Tofu
  • Avocados
  • Oysters
  • Salmon
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Oranges
  • Lemons
  • Red peppers

Drink Lots of Water

Like your skin, your scalp can also turn dry, and it won’t do any good for your hair. Drinking water is also something you should do for general health improvement so adding this habit to your hair care habit won’t be hard. You should drink around two liters of water every day.

It hydrates and helps in providing moisture to all the parts of your body that need it including your scalp and your hair. It prevents weakening and breakage so you can grow naturally.

Your habits can also affect the usual amount of water you should intake. During exercise, you sweat more than average so you should make sure that you replenish yourself and stay hydrated. If you live in a warmer climate, you should also drink more, too, because the weather can also dehydrate you faster.

Shower in Lukewarm Water

Hot nor cold water is neither good for your hair. Showering with hot water may feel so good on your body, but the heat can damage your hair. Your hair follicles will also open up which could let the moisture out and strip your scalp’s natural oils.

On the other hand, cold water is also not recommended. Cold temperatures can break the capillaries on your scalp. The capillaries carry nutrients as part of the circulatory system. The best temperature to wash your hair is lukewarm. It is neither hot nor cold which will reduce your risk of damaging your hair.

Know When to Comb or Brush Your Hair

Your hair is at its most fragile state when it’s wet. Avoid combing or brushing if your hair is still damp because you could end up having split ends or breaking your hair strands. Dry your hair gently first, never rub it with a towel to increase the speed of drying.

Brushing helps in stimulating your scalp and spreading the natural oils over your hair strands. It will help increase the growth of your hair, and the oils will protect it from damage. Also, you want to avoid brushing too much because you can end up pulling out your hair.

Use the Right Products

A shampoo is necessary to clean your hair and remove the dirt that has been accumulated. However, it is not wise to use shampoo every day. It can also strip your scalp’s natural oils which will lead to dryness and hair damage. Swap out most days with conditioner, so your hair is kept soft and shiny and still clean.

When choosing shampoo, conditioner, and other products for your hair, make sure to check its ingredients first. Sulfates and detergents can harm your hair. Even silicone, which the market says is beneficial, is damaging. It blocks moisture and nutrients that can prevent your hair from growing.

Get Enough Sleep

Sleeping regularly for at least seven hours per night helps in letting your body recover from all the stress of the day. Cell repair happens at this time, and since your scalp has cells, sleep is also beneficial for your hair.

During those hours, your body will produce growth hormones, and cell reproduction will speed up which will lengthen your hair. Your blood circulation also increases during this time which will help your hair get the nutrients from your blood vessels.

Different results could happen to different people, but generally, taking care of your overall health should be your priority. The way your hair looks can reflect how well you take care of your body. So to have a beautiful and healthy hair, follow the tips above so you can grow it to your desired length.
