Tom Ford Is Looking to Bring Back Silk Boxers

Tom Ford is known for his seductive and lavish point of view—whether he’s a designer or a movie director. And yet, somehow, last night was the first time the world got to see men’s underwear (and luxury watches) from the designer. At the risk of sounding breathless, it was worth the decade-long wait. The man could make a paper bag aspirational. The new items debuted as part of Ford’s Fall 2018 men’s show, a 700-person affair above and beyond anything he’d ever done for his men’s line before. Celebs like Trevor Noah, Pusha T, and Sebastian Stan were there to see the show, which included snakeskin puffer jackets, neon sneakers, and—of course—an array of killer tuxedo jackets. But back to the new goodies.

We are generally anti-boxers around these parts, but if anyone can make us a believer, not only in boxer shorts but in ‘90s-era silk boxer shorts done in shiny metallics and animal prints, it’s Tom Ford. In addition to the racy prints and colors, the collection also includes an array of nudes so you can better resemble the chiseled-ab bros in Ford’s famously sexy fragrance ads (8-pack not included). The underwear, which will launch in Tom Ford stores and online starting in June, is made in Italy and—and we’re just guessing here—probably feels like a bubble bath with an elastic band around the waist. Prices range from $50 to $300 for the silky stuff. Expensive, sure, but also peanuts compared to any article of clothing currently produced by Mr. Ford.
