Coping With Terrorism Anxiety

Tags: anxiety

Unfortunately, we live in a world where terrorism related events seem to be steadily increasing, with no end in sight.  With the recent events in Paris and then San Bernardino, it is becoming an ever present phenomena and it is hitting closer to home for many.

In reality, the likelihood of being directly affected by a specific event is still incredibly low, however with the 24/7 news channels, websites, live streams, etc. one event can be repeated constantly for days or weeks, keeping those thoughts and fears on the forefront of our minds.

Coping With Terrorism Anxiety

One of the best pieces of advice when attempting to alleviate any stress or Anxiety, is to distance yourself from the situation.  Make a conscious effort not to watch 24 hour news networks, don’t seek out news articles on the topic, put down those smart phones and tablets and get out and enjoy nature.

If you receive breaking news alerts, turn them off.  Do you really need to have up to the second updates for everything that goes on?  No.  It really isn’t necessary and being so tapped into what is going on, can definitely make things far worse than they need to be.

One thing that works wonders for me personally is to avoid the news altogether.  There are so many sources of information out there, that you are bound to find out about current events during the normal course of daily events.  Don’t go seeking out such info, if something is truly important to you personally, you will find out about it.

After a traumatic event, it is natural to experience a wide range of emotions, even if not affected by the situation directly.  It can take some time, but in the end remember that similar things have happened in the past and they too were overcome.  Certainly the events of 9/11 in NYC come to mind.  It may seem terrible now, but things will get better.

When these temporary, individual events occur, it reminds us to live in the moment.  Life is precious and you should take the time to appreciate what you have, express gratitude throughout the day, be thankful for those around you.

Be positive, don’t obsess about things that are outside of your control.

Additional Options For Reducing Anxiety

If you’ve tried all of the above and are still experiencing symptoms of stress and anxiety, you may decide to seek additional help.

Of course, one great option would be to seek the assistance of qualified professionals such as therapists or psychologists.

However, if you’re the do-it-yourself type, there are additional, much less expensive options available.

The program I recommend to alleviate your symptoms of anxiety is The Linden Method.  It is a complete, step-by-step program that contains all the information you need to eliminate your anxiety for good.

The author of the program, Charles Linden, has been referred to as ‘the world’s leading anxiety recovery expert’.

This is the program that I used personally, to eliminate my own symptoms of anxiety.  I experienced very severe anxiety and panic attacks for years and didn’t think I’d ever be back to living a normal life.

As the program states many times, you have the power inside you to cause anxiety related symptoms to materialize, you also have the power to make them go away.  Don’t suffer any longer, get back to living the life you are meant to live.
