Drug Detox - How long does it takes?

Drug Detox
How long do drugs stay in your body while undergoing drug detox?  To begin with we should determine what a drug is. Drugs can be any substance that modifies how a person’s body functions after being ingested. Most discussions about drugs and drug detox usually involve illegal drugs like amphetamines, hallucinogens, opiates or cannabis, however other substances like nicotine and caffeine also modify how one’s system functions when they are absorbed, and your body can become dependent on them also requiring a drug detox when you want to stop.

So, how long do Drugs stay in your system when you are undergoing drug detox? This depends on many issues:

1. Physiological characteristics

One’s health state, body mass, height and weight, and age can all be part of the length of time your body can take to drug detox. For example, the older a person is, the slower his or her metabolic rate will become. As a result, the older a person is, the longer a drug will remain in his or her system. Additionally, the greater an individual’s body mass is, the longer drugs will remain in their system whilst in drug detox.

2. Frequency of use

One additional factor that can influence the length of time drugs stay in your body during drug detox is how often you have been using the drugs (one time per day, three times per day, etc.).  So how often you abuse your drug of choice and the length of time you have been taking drugs can influence the length of time the substances stay in your system during drug detox.

3. Type of drugs

Certain drugs will take longer to metabolize during drug detox. So no matter what your personal metabolic rate is, the chemicals in certain types of drugs will take more time to leave your system during drug detox.

With chronic drug users (AKA dug addicts), drugs can remain in their body much longer during drug detox as a result of the frequency and length of the abuse and also as a result of damage caused by the drugs to the organs that metabolize the drugs.
