OnePlus 5 : Is it a worthy value buy?

After the tremendous success of OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is ready with its next flagship smartphone, OnePlus 5. The device has already created a lot of hype ever since its announcement. After huge speculation, it is finally stated for an official release on 22nd June in India at NSCI Dome, Mumbai (2pm onwards) and on 20th June in New York.

OnePlus 5 will most likely come with Qualcomm's latest processor Snapdragon 835 and a 5.5-inch QHD display. Additionally, the company might boost the RAM to 8 GB from 6 GB. It is also rumored to feature dual 23 MP cameras with OIS on the rear. The battery capacity is rumored to be 3,000 mAh, which if true would be strange because OnePlus 3T had a 3,400 mAh battery. OnePlus will be offering the OnePlus 5 in two variants where the 6GB variant could cost Rs. 32,999 and the 8GB variant OnePlus 5 price would be around Rs. 37,999.

Display :

OnePlus was always stuck to the full HD displays in their flagship devices whereas all the major flagship phones have moved on to the QHD display. With OnePlus 5, the company is expected to finally incorporate 2K display resolution in its upcoming device. OnePlus 5 will come with 5.5-Inch Qhd Amoled (2560x1440 px) display. Due to this high 2K resolution, it offers great visual experience to the users while watching movies and gaming as it can easily support Google's Daydream VR platform.

Hardware :

OnePlus 5 is equipped with most advanced hardware which will definitely set new benchmarks for other 2017 flagship phones. The phone is likely to feature 8GB RAM as in Asus Zenfone AR.

Camera :

The dual set of rear cameras is the main highlight of this latest upcoming flagship smartphone, out of which one of the two sensors will be 23MP whereas other sensor has not been disclosed in public. The company has partnered with DxO Labs to enhance camera experience on OnePlus 5. Lets see what type of camera sensors will the company incorporate in its next flagship devices ranging from RGB+ monochrome sensor or may be a telephoto lens on the front snapper to allow optical zoom.

Battery :

OnePlus 5 is rumored to sport a 3500mAh battery. The last year’s flagship killer came with 3400mAh battery. The smartphone maker has made improvisation in this device by including its dash charge 2.0 technology (which is one of the fastest in the market) to ensure the OnePlus 5 takes less than 30 minutes to charge it to 60% of its total capacity.

Software :

OnePlus 5 is more likely to run on Android 7.1.2 Nougat wrapped under out-of-box Oxygen OS. The UI will remain close to stock and easier to operate. The phone will also come with Google Assistant and to-be announced Android O-beta which will go live in coming days.
