My Camp NaNoWriMo: Week One

I swear I’m doing it this time! Several times I’ve said in my blog posts that I’d take on Camp Nanowrimo but I fall short. I even signed up last April with a project and cabin—but didn’t write one word.

That’s going to change.

See, I have a hard time not producing new blog content each week. I don’t like thinking about my readers taking the time to come to my blog only to find no new updates there.

So, I’m asking for my readers to forgive me, at least for a month.

I have worked so hard at producing new blog posts each week that I have neglected to write anything creative for a long time. And I’m itching to make creative writing a priority in my life again. Taking this time for me to dive back into storytelling may hopefully lead to some powerful blog posts that can help your writing as well.

If you’re not joining me on this journey of Camp NaNoWriMo this month, then I welcome you to follow mine.

What’s New For My Camp NaNoWriMo

In past National Novel Writing Month and Camp NaNoWriMos, I have continued publishing new blog content that supported the NaNoWriMo experience. This approach is too ambitious and unrealistic for me this month.

Instead, I’ll publish my progress every Monday in a post that describes my accomplishments, my challenges and my goals for the upcoming week.

When August rolls around, I’ll jump back into my regular pattern of writing blog posts that offer advice on creative writing, blogging, editing, and grammar as well as content marketing and social media.

How I’m Participating in Camp NaNoWriMo

To be honest, I don’t know which writing project(s) I want to tackle. I’m in between two ideas:

  • The first act of a full-length comedic play
  • 2+ short stories

I guess we’ll both know by next Monday which path I decided to take! I’m setting my word count goal at 6,000 right now, and I may increase if I find this goal too easy.

Let’s hope that’s the case!

Can I do it this time? Stay tuned every Monday this month to catch up on my weekly accomplishments, obstacles and goals.

See you next Monday!
