The OG Weekender: 7.28.17

We’re getting ready for another hot summer weekend in Dayton! In this edition of the OG Weekender, we’re bringing you the latest in marketing, technology, and design, along with fun events and festivities to attend right here in Dayton. Check out the latest OG Weekender:

Visit the 2017 Dayton Celtic Festival at Riverscape

All weekend long, you can celebrate Celtic heritage at the popular Dayton Celtic Festival at Riverscape! There’s a 5k, Irish food and drink, music, dancing and even a parade of kilts. Best of all, admission is free!

Grab some grub at Dayton Summer Restaurant Week

Now’s the time to visit that popular Dayton restaurant you’ve been meaning to try because Dayton Summer Restaurant Week continues through Sunday. Dayton’s best restaurants are offering meals at reduced prices to raise money for charity. Over 40 of the top restaurants in Dayton are participating and showcasing new menu items at a great price.

New in social media: Instagram-inspired restaurant designs

Social media shapes many aspects of our lives, influencing how we spend our time, how we communicate with others, and now it’s even affecting how entrepreneurs are designing their restaurants. Millennial restaurateurs are designing their spaces around the idea that trendy Instagram posts of their locations will lure more customers. Some of these design elements include natural lighting, unique wallpaper or floor tiles, and even fun, quirky murals on the outside of their venues. According to the article, the average guest takes photos for 10 minutes before even ordering! For digital advertisers, this means location-based ads could have high performance around these trendy restaurants.

Facebook introduces a new ad format

Facebook draws the majority of its revenues from advertising, with $9.16 billion dollars earned in this quarter alone. That’s why it comes to no surprise that Facebook is now delving into the world of bumper ads—short, concise (usually video) ads that users cannot skip. The ads will be sold through AdWords auction on a CPM basis, meaning that advertisers will pay each time the ad is shown 1,000 times. They should appear around the same time that Facebook launches its TV-like programming in mid-August, so stay tuned for the impact of this new format.

Have a wonderful weekend!
