3 Ways to Cure a Creative Block

It is 3:00 on a Tuesday afternoon (Tuesdays have been proven to be the worst work day of the week, but that conversation is for another day.) and a new project just landed on your desk that requires you to dig your heals in and get conceptual. This would all be sounding pretty great right now if your level of creativity wasn’t feeling like a level zero. But don’t fret, here are 3 ways to get out of that late afternoon creative funk.

1. Look to your fellow creatives

There is no better way to get those creative juices flowing then by looking at the work of others. A few of my personal favorites are behance.net, dribbble.com, and awwwards.com.

2. Don’t forget about Pinterest

Ok so normally this is your go to for a quick weeknight dinner or inspiration for the next color you want to paint your bedroom, but Pinterest can have the same effect for design inspiration. The best part, you can start boards to reference during your next creative block. It is surprising how much time this saves, searching for inspiration can be a serious time suck!

3. Be more observant

This may sound like an odd/obvious solution, but it is so true. Simply put on your creative lenses. How many times do you scroll through Instagram, go on amazon.com, or sift through a magazine in your down time? We often Forget to notice creative solutions that are right in front of our eyes. We become desensitized to the day-to-day, but if you start becoming more aware you may get inspired!

I hope these tips help you get inspired the next time you are having that dreaded creative block, and of course don’t forget sometimes the best solution of all is to walk away or save it for another day.
