Improving Google Rankings

Google indexes 130 trillion individual web pages with each web crawl, which is an internet bot that systematically browses the world wide web for the purpose of web indexing. Only 10 of those pages out of 130 trillion, fit on a results page. And you and every other web page owner, designer and marketer wants to be number one on the very first page! And...I have a bridge in Brooklyn...
One BILLION searches happen just on Google alone each month. You have done your work on making your website perfect for Search engine optimization (SEO), using the right words, a blog, URL titles and header names, and you want that coveted first page spot. But, here are some statistics to show where you are in the line up. 92% of all search traffic happens on the first page. 33% of that particular search traffic goes to the first listing on page 1. And 4% of the searches goes to the 10th ranked listing on page 1.
So...how do you get to put your website in the number one spot on page one? Algorithms are the first thing that you need to look at. The technological science behind page rankings may at first seem complicated, but it is simple in its implementation. Search engines such as Google, use variable programs and formulas to measure and calculate how important a website and its pages are. This importance is what determines its place in the search. The parts that make up the formulas for those determinations are also ever changing. Google has stated that they use a minimum of over 200 different factors and indicators that help the search engine guess what a searcher might be looking for. The algorithms change frequently, up to 600 times each year, and these changes reflect improvements in the code. They say these changes come out so that the search will be improved with relevancy and that the person searching will find the information they need without have to perform several searches using various words. So, how do you get your website to swim in this constant sea of algorithm changes?
For the moment, the best thing you can do to improve your ranking is to continue to work on your SEO. Google ranking factors count and must be looked at on a regular basis. The most consistent and important ranking factors are content of your website, backlinks that are used on your pages, how well it is designed and then converts to use on a mobile device and the page headings and anchor text from your links.
So, to improve your ranking you should put your efforts into writing great content. The words or content on your website is what brings your customers or clients to your website in the first place. The information, instructions, advice, entertainment and products that you offer through the words, video or pictures, is the driving force. When this content makes a connection with the visitor to your site and then performs the job by answering the questions or teaching with the instructions or making someone respond with laughter, it makes that coveted connection and Google sees that, especially if the visitor returns and shares. It is the content on a site that Google looks at and then offers to its searchers. I
Your website should contain in its content, any images, pictures or videos that use lots of keywords that pertain to the site, the product or the message. This will optimize your standing. It should be relevant to the audience you wish to target and most importantly, it needs to stay fresh, new and up to date. Make sure that it is also accessible to any type of computer or other device. Well written content and well produced video that is visually appealing will also drive rankings higher and higher.
Keywords are the words, phrases or terms that searchers use in the Google search bar to find what they are looking for. You need to put yourself into their shoes and figure out what words they would use and the use them in your website. If your site is keyword heavy, then you will be easily found. Make a list of words describing who your business is, what your business is and what you are selling or offering and then make a second list with words from those original words. Use words that tell the name of the product, the name of your company and the address, part of town neighborhood and any other locale description. There are many keyword finder tools out there that can help with this process. Google AdWords comes to mind. Also, look at what your competitors are doing on their websites. You may have missed an idea or two! Google Analytics will also give you insight into keywords that are driving visitors to your website and what content they like. Keywords should be used in a page title, the header of each page and in any image tags.
Backlinks are links from other websites or pages. They can be made up of any content from another part of your own website or that of other websites, articles, pictures or blogs. External backlinks are those from places outside of your own website and internal backlinks are from within your own website pages. Backlinks are a very important part of the Google ranking formulas. When those bots go out on an indexing crawl in Google, it is moving from link to link. The more links you have, the more that little bot goes to your site moving you up the ladder. If the external links are popular and well ranked websites already, it moves it up in rank even faster. These websites can be from other businesses, influencers and even from social media sites. Asking others to link their websites to yours and vice versa along with tagging those people and their sites in your social media postings are all tricks to get your ranking to that first page. If the backlinks appearing on other websites contain your target keywords, that is a major leap forward.
