Why is Networking an Essential Part of Event?

Networking is said to be one of the crucial aspects of the event. One must develop connections within their network to have more opportunities for their own advancement. Attending meetings and social events is indeed a great way to connect with people of your interest.

If you are busy Connecting and socializing with people who are not related to the field of your interest then you’ll be at loss. At an event that ensures your professional and personal growth, you can meet and connect with people to increase your knowledge. Being a part of a conference or a corporate meeting ensures fulfillment of your career goals as well.

People should be able to connect with each other, discuss unique thoughts and ideas, and so on. This is where the thought of networking in events pops into the mind of the organizers. The concept of networking has several advantages when applied properly at an event.

1. Making connections/discovering new people —

In any event be it a conference or a meeting, you’ll meet up other attendees. Get into talking with them; learn their interest in attending the event. If you want to maintain further contact with them, save them in your contact list or better bookmark them so you can ask for a meeting afterward.

Networking is not about just connecting people. It’s about connecting people with people, people with ideas, and people with opportunities. — Michele Jennae

2. Lead generation —

By attending an event, attendees might get a better picture of what the organizer does and may convert into his lead. From an organizer’s perspective, event networking is a huge asset in terms of maximum lead generation.

3. Discuss ideas –

To be successful, you have to be able to relate to people; they have to be satisfied with your personality to be able to do business with you and to build a relationship with mutual trust.— George Ross

If you can connect with attendees, and you are able to meet up with the industrialists or successful entrepreneurs, what will you do? Ask for their autograph?

No, you would like to discuss ideas; your business mind will open up at that moment. You may also end up discussing what’s trending, any news topic, but it would be an opportunity for you to talk your mind out to them.

4. Meeting influencers —

In many events, there are a wide number of event speakers, influencers (marketing, social media, event professionals and so on) that are a big part of the event. Attending the event and networking with a chain of people, you can also meet the influencer you admire.

As a matter of fact, influencers also help in driving a lot of audience to an event. It can be a great way for planners to market their event and create a pre-event buzz.

Some networking statistics state that “40% socialize more online than they do face to face.”

In fact, face-to-face meetings and technology is a perfect combination of networking at events. It also states the importance of connecting with people in both traditional and technical ways and expanding your professional group.
