Top 10 Ways on Writing Catholic Wedding Vows

Catholic Wedding Vows are essential element in a catholic wedding which is one amongst the seven sacraments. Sometimes a couple may want to write down their own wedding vows. This allows the couple to add a personal touch in the way they express love for one another. While writing down ones’ own wedding vows it’s important to take care of the following things:

  • The vows must be in line with the Catholic traditions and the personal vows can be based on them.
  • The couple may add any special songs, poems or quotes in their wedding vows but it should be appropriate to the occasion.

  • The personal wedding vows should not be embarrassing or offending to the gathering rather should rise to the occasion of catholic wedding ceremony.

  • The couple may draw inspiration from friends, relatives or parents if they have had done the same on their weddings.

  • Avoid having long vows. Try and keep it as long as the traditional vows.
After the material is ready, proofread it for any changes that might be required. Try to keep it simple and remove anything irrelevant.

  • Once the couple has decided upon the vows they are going to exchange during the wedding program, they should next settle on the kind of tone to be used for the same. It’s fine to add a bit of humor to the personal wedding vows.

  • Do not forget to practice saying the vows before you finally do it on the wedding day. It’s better to memorize the vows you have written. However, there is no harm in writing them down and taking it to your catholic wedding ceremony.
Go ahead and make your fiancé/fiancée special on this special occasion but remember to avoid anything that might harm the sanctity of the Catholic Church and traditions.
