Keep it Simple Keep it Real in 2017

Simple: Easy, not complicated

Real: not artificial
Three months ago I decided to write a blog inspired by the way my dad led his life. This way of life is one that I want to strive to copy and hope to inspire others to do the same. Writing the blog is also my opportunity to reflect on and share my own life experiences. I try to provide insight, humor, and real examples of my own journey. Even if no one ever reads it, it has fulfilled a need that I didn’t know I had. A need to write! Thanks to social media (which I have never been a fan of I must admit), I have experienced something far greater than I ever imagined in the blog process: responses from readers!  I can’t tell you how much it has benefited me to read your comments, receive your text messages, and to connect with people that I wouldn’t have the opportunity to connect with otherwise (most of this “visibility” of the blog has come from Facebook).

Seventeen blog posts later, I am diving into the New Year with my blog as a focal point.

My 2017 blog plan is to keep writing and to turn this into a book in a year (no clue how to do this…e-book, hard cover…if you have knowledge in this area….help!) I am not looking for publicity or attention but rather invigorated and inspired by the idea of seeing this “project” through to its completion and I hope to have your company along the way.

O.k. here is the real message for today’s blog:

The New Year: Keep it Simple Keep it Real which means:

Every hour not every January 1st is an opportunity to start fresh and take the next best step! Why set ourselves up for a disappointment January 10th, February 15th, April, May, October, blah, blah with our expectation or resolution and not allow ourselves the gift of a fresh “New Year” feel to every day? Hey I don’t even want the pressure of keeping that “new” thing going for a 24 hour period without permission to forget to do it or “mess it up” and start fresh the next moment.  I need permission to restart multiple times a day.

At 46 (soon to be 47) I am finally learning that my “all or nothing” way of life is not always the best route.

Today’s Take Away: Your gentle nudge: Keep the New Year feel going by hitting that reset button in your life every day or every hour if needed.  Every “moment” is an opportunity for a fresh start.   Don’t look too far back or too far ahead.
