"Sorry, but you really hurt my feelings."

Someone asked me about my thoughts on 13 Reasons Why. Thanks for your interest, by the way.

The book was already published years ago, but obviously, TV shows are waaaay more influencial at this age, so okay.

I’ve been there. Fortunately, I was strong enough to get through it. I mean, I wanted to die, but I wasn’t Suicidal. I just wanted a part of my life to just be erased or skipped and be forgotten. Dead, somehow.

You’re lucky if you haven’t felt the same. It is definitely not normal, but it is common to young adults, usually 18-25, to feel or think this way. Some of you are probably thinking “ang babaw naman nyan”. Maybe for you, it is. But for some of us, it is a big deal.

I disgust those people who share those memes saying rude things about Hannah or the people with the same struggles. I know they’re just jokes but they are bad jokes. We are talking about feeligs here, we are talking about lives.

Instead of the kids sharing all their thoughts and feelings, they tend to keep it secret. Nobody wants to be laughed at, right? So I’ll just keep myself quiet and maybe think of some ways to just finish everything.

You Hurt my feelings when you touched my ass. Such a simple thing, I mean you didn’t get pregnant, did you? But that is my ass, and I don’t want it be touched by strangers. What’s funny about that?

13 Reasons Why is just an example of our youngsters’ lives. I think it is intentionally written with shallow reasons up to the most terrifying reasons a teen could ever have to trigger a mental illness or suicidal thoughts.

Okay, I’m not good speaking about it but here’s a TED talk I hope can help you understand the point even further: There’s no shame in taking care of your mental health.

Wrapping this post up, I think creating the show (13 Reasons Why) and showing it to much larger audience is a good idea, for people to understand the problem more. Not to make it as a model or example of what the kids should be doing, but for everybody to be reminded that they should be aware that these problems exist.

What’s your take on the show?
