Hello, everyone! I and my friend are planning a weekend getaway on May. If you are into mountain climbing or at least want to try a minor hike, (or if you’re feeling sawi) please feel free to join us! Comment here and I’ll message you or drop a your message in my inbox.
Be informed that this is not a profit climb. We will not be collecting anything, we’re all on our own when it comes to money spending. If you’re worried about safety, I can assure you we are the most caring friends and we’ll hire a guide anyways. Here are more deets if you’re interested:
- Mt. Sawi is located in Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.
- It’s a new trail so this is our first time, too, visiting the mountain.
- It’s a 3/9 minor climb. More details here.
- We’re looking for more fun and adventure so we’ll be commuting. It’s a 4-5hour bus ride from Manila.
- This is a DIY climb. If this is your first time, read my tips here and here and here.
- Bring your own food. (I smell treats coming, but don’t get your hopes high.)
- This is a day hike, so pack light!
- Travel date is on May 13, 2017. (Copy of itinerary and estimated expeses will be sent if you’re joining.)

By the way, there are rumors about the “legend” that it was named Mt. Sawi because of some Broken Hearted girl who took suicide at the top of the mountain. Contrary to what they’re saying, I also have read that the name was based on a dead tree at the peak. So whether it’s sawi meaning broken hearted or sawi meaning dead tree, I guess we’ll find out.
