TIL: HOPE

Two or maybe a year ago (honestly until now), I Suffered a very depressing situation that made me think of ending my life. They say it’s natural, or common, they even have a name for it - quarter-life crisis. Though I wasn’t that very optimistic and concerned of how other people could offer help, I still decided to study the issue and see if this was really a problem we should be scared of or just a part of growing up like hormonal chuvaness we hear from science?

Then I realized it’s true that it is only a part of growing up. Young adults are starting to expose themselves to a bigger and more complicated world and that is truly overwhelming. However, as one of the kids who suffered from depression and anxiety and unwanted stress, I say this is a very scary part especially for those who are super sensitive that they couldn’t handle themselves. I mean, they can end their own lives any minute wihout even thinking.

Today I learned that there is this program launched by the DOH specifically for the people who’s given up Hope in living. It is good, though most of the peope who suffers from mental illnesses needs to talk about their problem and even hope from time to time. Yes, there are these families and friends, but what if they’re one of the reason why these people feel lonely?

I once thought dying the natural way is the most noble thing you can let yourself do. And that suicide is never the answer. But as part of the people who thought (even once, and even not sincerely) of doing that, the need of help is really needed to be voiced out.

There’s this video on Facebook which made me think of make this program a part of my advocacy in life. Watch it here. >> x

Uhm. So yeah. If you know someone, or if YOU are feeling “suicidal”, think of it first. I’m not here to lecture the Bible or your religion to you, but think of how good your life is first, think about the people you love, think about the dreams you have, and all the sacrifices and challenges you’ve been through and ask yourself, is killing myself really the answer?

Do not hesitate to call the Philippine Suicide Prevention Hotline 804-4673 (HOPE) for help. The line is open 24/7.
