What to wear on the weekend

A few weeks ago, I realized that a lot of the outfits I wear here and on Instagram qualify as "dressed up" to a lot of people, and while they're what I really wear in real life, I do dress down quite a bit on the weekend. And while I always like to put my best foot forward, I like to keep it real as well. Here's what I've been living in on the weekend—it's comfy, it's cozy, and it's (almost all) on sale.

I realized I needed a hooded raincoat to take the dog out when it's raining, so I bought this jacket at Athleta on Black Friday. It was such a good investment, I'm kind of incredulous that I haven't owned a hooded raincoat up until this point in my life. There's an inner layer with thumbholes to keep the rain out of the sleeves, and both the hood and waist have inner drawcords to give it a little shape. It's lined, so it's warm, and it's totally water-repellant, so it holds up in a storm. Plus, it's on sale now, so I'd highly recommend jumping on it. For reference, I'm in a small, which is what I usually wear at Athleta.

I've also been living in this sweatshirt. Forgive the unflattering image, but I wanted to show you the side zippers, which you can unzip and show off a base layer if you'd like. This sweatshirt is ridiculously soft, and the length covers your butt, so you can wear it with leggings. I wear this, on average, twice a week. I'm in a medium—I sized up for extra slouchiness.

You last saw these Cuddl Duds leggings in my Black Friday post, and I've been wearing them pretty much nonstop since then. I love the mottled gray effect—they're a little more interesting than basic black leggings, and they add a little texture here, so it's not just flat, all-black pieces that I'm wearing. These are really soft, too, and feel a little more lightweight than regular leggings. I'm in a size small, for reference.

It had been years since I'd last bought a pair of UGG boots, and these were also a Black Friday score. I like them because they have a small wedge heel, which makes them a little more flattering than the average UGG, and gives the shape a little refinement (or as much refinement as you could hope for in a sheepskin boot). They keep my feet nice and toasty, especially when I'm walking the dog early in the morning or late at night. I ordered my regular size, an 8.5, but I feel like these are a little more snug than normal—they're too tight if I wear a thick sock with them—so you might want to go up a half size. These are also on major sale at the moment.

And, I swear, this is the last time I'm going to feature my A.P.C. bag for awhile, as I'm sure you're sick of it by now. In all honesty, it's my favorite bag at the moment, especially on the weekend. It just goes with everything!

Funny story about this location—it's actually a hospital and medical offices, and because it's up on a hill where the Lower Haight meets the Castro, it has an incredible view of the city. Because it's so open, it also has great light, which is why we shot here. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to visit, but if you happen to be in the neighborhood, it's the Sutter Health on Castro Street and the views are amazing.
