Pacific Northwest Day 2

The first full day of our trip was the best day of our trip in terms of weather. Needless to say, the Pacific Northwest is known for getting a lot of rain but on our first day it was sunny and relatively warm. This was good since were planning on the spending the day outside. After enjoying the breakfast buffet at our hotel, we showered and headed out for the day.

Our first stop of the day was the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver. Since we weren’t renting a car, we had to walk to a free shuttle bus. We didn’t mind because it was such a nice day.

The ride on the shuttle bus was pretty quick.

I had visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge when I was in Vancouver in 2010 but I was looking forward to going there with my husband. It is a truly beautiful place and it was fun to go there with him.

I was very proud of how well he handled his fear of heights since there are so many times you find yourself high up.

In the nine years since I had last visited, they had added a new attraction called the cliff walk. I was happy about this because it allowed me to experience something new as well.

We took our time and took lots of pictures.

When we got back on the shuttle bus, we found ourselves in some truly horrible traffic. I was really glad I wasn’t driving. One of my biggest regrets from my trip to Vancouver in 2010 was that I didn’t get to see Stanley Park. Since we were done with our time Capilano Suspension Bridge fairly early in the day we were able to visit the park that afternoon.

We rented two bicycles from a bicycle sharing station and explored the park on bike.

Last year my husband and I briefly rented bikes in Hyde Park in London but this time we really went exploring on bicycle. It was a lot of fun to ride bikes with my husband in another country. It also allowed us to see a lot more of the park than we would have if we had walked.

Having missed out of Stanley Park in 2010 I was thrilled I got to see so much of the park this year. I especially liked being able to see in the interior of the park where you feel like you’re in the middle of the forest.

After our bike ride around Stanley Park we docked the bikes and started thinking about dinner. We settled on a dumpling house, which was delicious!

Once the sun went down, we were both very cold, but we were both happy with how the first full day of our trip went.

As they hit the road, with Terri’s children in tow, they find themselves forced to rely on and confide in each other following a devastating event.
