Since early January I was obsessing over a bottle of Black Opium by Yves Saint-Laurent. I saw a bottle online but the seller was adamant about the price. It was going at 4000.00 pesos, which is a bit steep for a 100 ml bottle, considering that it was missing a few sprays.
I tried almost every other day to reason with the seller, but to no avail. Eventually, I found another seller sometime in March, but someone beat me to it. So I have decided to give it up, I keep telling myself that I have two bottles of the original Opium anyway. And then a couple of weeks ago, I discovered another shopping site online, et voila! There was a 50 ml bottle of Black Opium going for just 1,500.00 pesos and it was, of course, a deal I would be stupid not to make.
And so, I immediately contacted the seller made arrangements to meet with her and the rest is history. From what I have read online before purchasing this fragrance, the reviews said that this is sweet with a strong coffee note. They got the sweet part right, but as for the strong coffee note, I actually cannot detect it. It is there but not as a major player, what I get is loads of vanilla and jasmine.
Longevity of this fragrance is good, though still not as strong as the original. Sillage I would have to rate it as average but on the higher end of average. This is not a room filler, unlike its predecessor. Nonetheless, I love this interpretation of the original Opium.
