Funny but hella bizarre

I still can’t believe someone back in high School tried to make me jealous by telling me that she was married to a fictional Character I liked.

I was excitedly sharing my enthusiasm about Edward Elric, admittedly I have always loved his character so much, and to learn someone else watched the same show was so cool. You don’t really meet as many anime and kpop fans so I’m very vocal and ecstatic when I find someone does like them.

When she said this I stopped talking; yeah she interrupted me to tell me that… I still don’t get it. As soon as she said it my immediate thought was to get the hell away from her ASAP. My friend Kira quickly looked at me with a very confused and GTFO kinda face.

I was stupified and I tried to end the conversation immediately, do a 180 and walk away. But she kept interrupting me and telling me it was real and she had a marriage certificate (I didn’t even know marriage certificates were a thing then) and that I’d never have him. She insisted that she knew him better and I would never get to be with him and I shouldn’t even talk about the character as a result.

How? What?

The level of confusion this evoked; holy hell.

This girl was a year older than me and a new kid at our school. I had heard people say things like she was weird but I’m not the type to ignore someone just because someone else, a friend doesn’t have a good impression of said person. I like to make my own decisions on these matters. In that moment however, let’s just say I might have reverted to my misanthropist days.

On a side note; I have this terrible, terrible habit of confusing misanthropy with masochism. Sometimes I will try to explain misanthropy to someone but use the wrong word and loudly state ‘Oh yea, I’m a masochist!’ in a room full of my professional classmates people. Someone kill me, OMG.
