EU Authorities were obliged to manufacturers of Drugs used in Lethal Injections, if you export to obtain confirmation that these drugs will not be used for executions, reports the BBC.

Disruption of tiopentalom sodium, used for lethal injections in the United States began in 2010. The only American company producing the drug at the factory in Italy, local authorities have forbidden to continue their activities, if manufactured thiopental will be used for executions.

A number of other European manufacturers have refused to export this product for ethical reasons. Because of this, most American execution of death sentences have been long delayed. In April this year refused to export thiopental and India.

Now the European Commission adopted a decision to ban the export of thiopental for executions official: drug companies have to make sure that the customer is not a drug penitentiary USA or other countries.

According to an official statement by the European authorities, they want to be sure that no one exported from the EU drugs will not be used for executions, torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

European human rights activists and pharmaceutical companies expressed support for such a requirement.

Thiopental is approved as a component of lethal injection in 37 of the 38 U.S. states practicing the death penalty. In all EU countries banned executions, and the European Commission wants a moratorium on them throughout the world.
