Started in 2005, The Pony Project gave Hasbro's iconic Little Pony a fresh face. A group of artists (including Betsy Johnson, Kimora Lee Simmons, and Paul Frank among many others) were each given an 18" Pony to play with. Some were bedazzled, some graffitied, one was even made into a disco ball. An exhibition of these Ponies began in Oct. of 2005 at Milk Gallery in Chelsea. Our very own, Arlene, just happened to worked the grand opening, getting an up-close look at all the adorable little toys. The Ponies are still on sale, and many are still left. Although they are very expensive; fifty percent of the proceeds go towards Paul Newman's charity organization, Hole In The Wall; which funds camps for children with serious or life threatening illnesses.
