Is the term “Whitey” offensive?

Some people like referring to white people as “Whitey”, I’m not sure who came up with this term, and I’m also not sure how many people find the term “Whitey” Offensive. I mean, can you actually take someone to court for saying “Whitey”? (i just can’t imagine, white people playing the race card, or can they?).

My friends told me they feel Offended when people refer to them as “Whitey”. I know black people are offended by the N word because it has a history attached to it, but why are people offended by the term “Whitey” – what history does the term “Whitey” have?. Many people find “coloured” offensive – they prefer to be called “people of color”, is “coloured people” and “people of color” not the same thing?, it’s like saying “it’s lunchtime” and then changing it to “it’s time for lunch” because people in the cafeteria got offended lol.
