The naked truth.

Tags: body

I had an interesting conversation with my employer today about how effective artwork could be on the walls of our store. He proposed the idea of having black and white pictures of different people posing naked, covering their bodies in an artistic way. Our slogan of “feel better naked,” inspires others to work out and console with how they look. This brought me to a deeper thought, which brings me to this purpose of topic. The human Body should be looked at as a beautiful piece of art. Humans will do anything to cover their bodies and hide what I find as pure, and natural. Society plays a major role in telling us that showing skin creates controversy.Obviously I see purpose in wearing specific clothing when temperatures outside create an unpleasant setting. In school, girls are punished for wearing shorts that don’t fit the schools criteria for what is appropriate. Although I can find sense in this, it shouldn’t have to be that way.  How a person chooses to take care of their body is a reflection of how that person lives their life. We can’t expect to stay in perfect shape our entire lives. Women give birth to children, creating a new expansion of priorities. Men grow old, and dedicated more time to drinking beer rather than staying consistent with the gym. Work demands a tremendous amount of commitment and that takes a person’s body through a full body workout in itself. This is all a part of life that we learn to accept. Why not accept the fact that humans are born naked and a person’s body is truly a natural form of life. If our bodies were exposed to society, something tells me a person would find a new sense of motivation to stay fit. Clothes would no longer divide the rich from the poor, a flaw which society has produced dedicated to creating the latest trend and fad. Those who are not able to afford clothes of a higher status are labeled as “different” and have trouble finding acceptance in our cruel, judgmental society. Some of us choose not to participate in such a fashion statement. We all receive pressure to maintain a specific social status, which falsely identifies a person’s worth, based on what brand of clothing we identify with. Why not inspire an individual to maintain a healthy lifestyle, knowing that their body represents their social status. One might argue that the obese would deal with additional insecurities and thus might be so, but clothing is only delivering temporary comfort, hiding one’s body from the truth. I would hope the obese would feel inspired to take action and feel encouraged to live an active lifestyle. Some people are not be able to change the body they have been blessed with no matter how much effort they put in trying to form their ideal look. This is a fact of life; instead of hiding behind clothing, we should feel comfortable with the body we have been given. To some people, exposing the body may be their deepest fear, but society should be inclined to accept the natural beauty of the human body in all its different sizes, shapes, and forms. Clothing only shelters us from coming to terms with the person we are. Living life naked would bring closure to those living life afraid of being noticed for their unattractive flaws. If we could learn to accept an individual for who they are, such flaws would go unnoticed, and everyone would hold unique, individual beauty. Humans are an extraordinary species living amongst thousands of different creatures, sharing the same space of life in nature. We promote taking extreme care of Mother Nature and its natural beauty, yet we distinguish ourselves as being different from all of what nature has produced. I realize living in such a place is a fantasy world that most people find ridiculously absurd. If my thoughts are ludicrous and surreal, perhaps I should see a therapist, but last time I checked we were born in the nude.
