Promises

Tags: promise
Promises and trust basically hold the same meaning - something which takes years to build but seconds to break.

"A promise means everything but once it is broken, sorry means nothing"

I have never been a fan of promises. I used to love promises a lot but as time passes, and being through several betrayal and heartbreaks, I started to dislike promises. There was a person who told me this
"Promises are meant to be broken."
and since then, I never like promises anymore.

Growing up, there's no little amount of promises which was promised to me but most of them were not fulfilled. It was broken by the person who made it.

There were several people who came to me and said "I promise to change your perception of promises" or "I'll make you believe in promises again" and they ended up making me dislike promises even more.

Even though I dislike promises, I believed in them (a bit). Me, myself, I take promises seriously. The ones who know me personally will probably know that I hardly make promises, almost never, and if I make promises, I will try my best to fulfill them. I personally think that everybody should be like that. Promises are not meant to be broken. It is meant to be fulfilled.

Speaking of promises, I hardly ever say the word 'I love you' because I love you holds a deep meaning and it holds promises like I will sacrifice my life for you, I'll do anything for you which is probably something I still wouldn't be able to do. Also, I prefer to show instead of to speak.

Now, I'm starting to learn to believe in promises. I've found my reasons why I should really believe in promises.

A promise is a beautiful thing. It was never bad. It was the person who broke it which are bad and honestly, they don't deserve you. Never let your past experiences affect how you view something. This is what I learn as time passes.

If there's any of you who are experiencing the same thing, I sincerely wish that you can find your own reasons to believe in promises someday. You might have to go through several betrayals and heartbreaks before you finally find the reasons. It's as if you're looking at the world in different point of view.

In this life, there'll be small promises and big promises which will last a lifetime. I have always been taught that in order to be able to handle a big matter, I have to start from small ones. The same thing happens to promises. You have to be able to fulfill small promises you made before fulfilling big ones.

a promise that lasts forever.
There'll be a day when you'll say "I do" and by that time, you've made a promise which lasts forever and there'll be no backing out.
For those who have made this promise, congratulations! Please take care of it and never break it. For those who haven't, remember to always be devoted to small promises before you finally make a lifetime promise.
