Day 13: What Need Have You For Tomorrow?

If you are not a better person tomorrow than you are today, what need have you for a tomorrow?” – Rebbe Nachman of Breslov

It’s the time for Rosh Hashanah, new hopes and new beginnings. Day 12 spoke about forgiveness. Today, in the decluttering series it is essential to know the importance of being able to forget unnecessary thoughts and events which occupy a huge space in our minds and hinder us from moving on.

We get hurt over and over again in life primarily because of a misadventure and by reliving the exaggerated version of the story of mishap a number of times in our mind. What helps is to journal it or share it with a wise friend, process it, squeeze the lessons from it and then release it. Recreate the story of hurt in a positive way so that it loses the sting.

Those who stay in the past or fast forward to the future lose the now which is an opportunity to become better. How can you take the most out of the moment if you keep brooding about the next chapter of your life or keep re-reading the last one?

L’shanah Tovah! Happy Rosh Hashanah!
