COLUMBUS CIRCLE — A Lincoln Square resident is suing the Metropolitan Transportation Authority for $10 million, claiming that an MTA employee hit him with a clipboard after he attempted to document a bus driver’s dicey driving.

On March 2, Jonathan Hubble, who heads up the HR department at an investment firm, was walking on West 58th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue when he was nearly struck by a M12 bus, according to the suit filed on Wednesday.

The bus was making a right turn from Eighth Avenue onto West 58th Street when it “nearly struck” Hubble, who was walking to work, his lawyer, Jason Linden, said.

When Hubble went to take pictures of the bus’ plates, he was met with an argumentative MTA bus driver, Linden said. Hubble saw another female MTA employee—believed to be Veronica Romano, according to the lawsuit—and tried to complain to her, and was again met with hostility, the attorney said.

It was when Hubble lifted his cellphone to take a picture of Romano that she retaliated by whacking Hubble with a clipboard, fracturing his wrist in the process, Linden said. Romano was arrested the day after the incident for assault, according to police.

“What we really see is an MTA failure to properly train individuals in a variety of different areas, ranging from operation of buses and trains to dealing with customer complaints,” Linden told DNAinfo New York.

Linden said the $10 million figure came from the initial notice of claim filed on April 5.

The MTA declined to comment on pending litigation.
