Naot Leveche Review: Walk a While in This Woven Wonder Bootie!

Naot Leveche

Naot Leveche booties provided by Naot. The opinions are completely our own based on experience.

When I first opened the box containing my new Naot Leveche ankle boots, my countenance dropped a little. My initial enthusiasm waned as I considered the criss-cross cut outs: was there too much going on? But once I slipped them on with my favorite pair of raw hem jeans, I got that Naot fangirl feeling back. These booties will go places this fall. I love them.

The Naot Leveche ankle boot kicks any basic outfit up a few notches with its criss-cross woven straps up the vamp. If you’re wondering if that’s my naked foot showing through the boot, it isn’t. Naot added a panel of soft stone-colored nubuck that shows through the woven upper. This feature allows the boot to be worn in colder weather. A diagonally set zipper and stacked one-inch heel with slight beveled edge add to the overall sleek appearance of the Naot Leveche.

Let’s talk about comfort. Naot footwear is handmade in northern Israel using the finest materials (read our in-depth brand review here). Their uniquely engineered insoles are a blend of natural latex and cork that are designed to replicate the shape of the foot. This is what I’ve come to know and love about Naot footwear and the Leveche is no exception. The footbed features moderate arch support, an indented heel cup, and is removable if you need to add your own orthotic. While I find the arch support noticeable, I know I’ll need a little more for days I’m on my feet. I removed the Naot insole and added my Tread Labs medium arch full-length insole (I like Tread Labs because they come in four arch heights and don’t take up much room in the forefoot of any shoe or boot). Even after adding an insole, I didn’t experience any slippage in the heel when walking.

The heel height of one inch is perfect for providing a little lift. If you suffer from plantar fasciitis, you may know that a heel of around one-inch is recommended for taking strain off the fascia. While the toe box isn’t wide like that of a Dansko clog, it is rounded and roomy enough to accommodate small bunions on a slightly narrow to medium width foot. I wouldn’t recommend the Naot Leveche for wider feet.

As far as fit, I find the european size 41 best fits my size 10 feet (I’m on the smaller side of 10). You may want to order up if you plan on wearing with your own orthotic. The Leveche is part of Naot’s Aura collection of dressier ankle boots. In fact, if you’re not into the woven details of the Leveche, check out the Naot Helm (basically the same boot without the cutouts).

Find the Naot Leveche ankle boot in black, amber and blue nubuck, sizes 35-42 (4-11) for $224.95 from Zappos, Nordstrom, and Shoes.com. If you need help finding a Naot retailer near you, call 1-800-NAOT-USA for assistance. Be sure to spray your new Naots with nubuck protector to protect them from elemental damage.
