Popular Radio Host Jeff Ward Escapes DWI Charge without DWI Lawyers
Apparently it helps to be famous. Jeff Ward, who was pulled over for excessive speeding on June 9th, receives differential treatment and all charges are dropped. Highly popular and a drive-time radio host, Jeff Ward, is not above committing a criminal offense and dissolving him from the crime is not the solution.
Practical Consequences of a DWI Arrest
DWI lawyers will tell you that the consequences of a DWI arrest of a regular Joe, you or me, may lead to loss of driver’s license, heavy fines, penalties, jail term, and/or even vehicle impoundment. On June 9th at 11 p.m., Jeff Ward, was caught speeding. Whether he submitted himself to a field sobriety test or not is not confirmed. There are reports that he had to spend the night in jail. Unconfirmed sources claim he called Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo at his home.

Since DWI is a crime, a conviction could take a toll on one’s life that entails a permanent criminal record status. DWI lawyers warn that it stretches its notoriety to insurance rates and job opportunities of the criminal record holder, as well as limitation to travelling out of the state or abroad. Luckily for Jeff Ward, Travis County attorney David Escamilla was asked to drop the case by the Austin Police Chief, Art Acevedo.

There are various news reports that Travis County is becoming too lenient in DWI cases. American Statesman reported that a huge percentage of cases, especially regarding drunken driving, were dismissed by Travis County (so perhaps it was not just because Ward is popularly known). DWI lawyers are of the opinion that this was possible when the cases filed by the police do not stand too much ground and are dropped because they are “weak cases”. Was Jeff Ward’s case weak? It does not seem so.
