Brazilian football match abandoned after mass fight and nine red cards

Sunday match amongst Brazilian Football Vitoria and Bahia was abandoned with 11 minutes remaining after the hosts had six men sent off in a game marked by a mass punch-up between players from the two sides.

The score in the Bahia state championship conflict between the two local opponents was 1-1 when Bruno Bispo turned into the ninth player in all and the fifth from Vitoria, to be shown the red card.

With groups requiring at least seven players, the referee was compelled to end the game.

Denilson opened the scoring for Vitoria following 33 minutes but Vinicius leveled with a punishment four minutes into the second half.

He celebrated with a irritating dance before the Vitoria supporters, which led rage from the home players.

Punches were tossed from the two sides and five men were sent off, three from Bahia and two from Vitoria.

Two more players, one from each side, were sent off two a couple of minutes, as tempers frayed and trouble spread to the terraces.

With 13 minutes left a fourth Vitoria player was sent off, provoking Bispo to kick the ball away and force the referee into granting him his second yellow and a match-finishing red.

Brazil’s sporting court will now choose what move to make over the indiscipline and the outcome.
