4 BSF Jawans killed in Pakistan firing in Jammu and Kashmir

Total of four Border Security Force (BSF) Jawans was killed including three others injured in unprovoked firing by Pakistan’s ceasefire attack in the international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. The firing actually happened in the Jammu’s Ramgarh sector last night.

A Border Security Force official said, “Pakistani Rangers manning the Post Ashraf started unprovoked firing on the border outpost of the BSF at 9.40 pm in Ramgarh sector last night.”

Along with the four Bsf Jawans, a senior BSF officer was also killed yesterday. While attacking, Pakistani rangers used high trajectory weapons to kill the nearby people on the Indian side.

IG, BSF, Ram Awtar said,”Pakistan Rangers initiated cross-border firing along Internation Border in Ramgarh sector last night. We have lost four of our jawans, including an assistant commandant rank officer, while other three of our jawans suffered injuries.”

Whereas, SP Vaid, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) tweeted and expressed his condolences over the incident.

After the incident, the BSF officials identified the deceased jawans as Assistant Commandant Jitender Singh, sub-inspector Rajneesh, assistant sub-inspector Ramniwas and constable Hansraj.

There were three other jawans who received severe injuries. And the injured persons were immediately evacuated to the nearby hospital for medical aid.

However, a peace agreement was made twice between the Indian as well as the Pakistan forces to abide by the 2003 ceasefire agreement between both the countries this month. But the Pakistan Rangers violated it by initiating cross-border firing.

As per the report, the firing from across the international border in Chamliyal post area of Ramgarh sector which started around 10.30 pm yesterday and continued till 4.30 am.

To control the situation, the BSF forces also fired in retaliation. This is the second major ceasefire attack along the international border this month after the ceasefire agreement between Director General Military Operations (DGMO) between both the countries which was done on May 29.

After the ceasefire agreement, on 3rd June, two BSF jawans were killed including ten persons among which most of them were civilians in the ceasefire attack by Pakistani Rangers in Pragwal, Khour and Kanachak sectors.

Not only this, in the month of May, around thousands of people who were residing along the International Border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts had to lose their homes because of this intense situations.

After signing in the ceasefire agreement, the Pakistani DGMO assured that there would not be any ceasefire attack anymore. But the situation has totally changed and the former had violated the rules.
